Book Review: How to Hack a Heartbreak
Romance book based off a dating website and it’s creator who is a strong female that doesn’t want other women to be stood up again!
Content Warning for sexual assault!
Meet Mel, an underemployed help desk tech at a company startup hub called Hatch. Mel helps entitled men (or hatchlings as they call themselves) fix their computers because they dropped it again or spilled coffee on it.
When Mel isn’t working, she’s on the newest app called Fluttr (kinda like Tinder). Along with her three friends, Mel is ready to give up on the dating world because she’s received one too many unsolicited dick pics and has been stood up too many times to count!
Enter JerkAlert. This new app was created by Mel to help women who like herself, need to be warmed of the men that don’t treat women right! As this app blows up overnight, Mel is left to her own secrets until she must reveal them to her friends and dare I say...new boyfriend!
I flew through this book and loved the humor and pop culture brought into this book. Mel was a good main character but she was a bit negative and gave herself too many pity parties when she could have changed her life!
If you enjoy careers in tech and hilariously awkward situations, this book is for you!
